Brief
Brand identity, logo and guidelines.
Amoeba is my creative studio in Brooklyn. It's a rebrand of the work I've been doing under my own name in New York for the last couple of years, now with a group of collaborators and a growing client list. We work across art direction, photography, video, identity and digital products. The name comes from the tagline, "Forms to the task." An amoeba changes shape depending on what it's doing, and that's how the studio works.
Approach
The mark is drawn from two letterforms: the round counter of an uppercase A and the flat side of a lowercase a. The wordmark is set in Marund Curved, which is only used for the logo. Everything else runs on Instrument Sans and Geist Mono. The colors are named after microscope work (Slide, Lens, Methylene, Eosin). Slide blue, black and Lens off-white carry most of it, with Methylene and the Eosin pink as accents. The animation shows the idea best: the mark stretches into the A and the rest of the word grows out of it.
